Children’s Privacy Notice
Effective September 4, 2026 · Last updated September 4, 2026
Plaibook is a coaching tool. Clubs and coaches use it to record information about the players they coach, many of whom are under 18 and some under 13. This notice explains how that information is handled, who is responsible for it, and the rights parents and guardians have. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
Who is responsible for what
The club or coach who uses Plaibook decides what information to record about its players and who may see it, and is responsible for having the consent of each player’s parent or guardian, usually obtained through the club’s registration process. Plaibook stores and processes that information on the club’s behalf. Where the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR (Article 8), the UK Age Appropriate Design Code or a similar law applies, the club acts as the operator or controller collecting the information with parental consent, and Plaibook acts as its service provider or processor.
What clubs record
Names, ages or dates of birth, positions, jersey numbers, availability, match statistics and ratings, training and development plans, coaching notes, injury or welfare notes the coach chooses to record, a photo if the coach adds one, and contact emails for the player and a parent or guardian. Clubs are asked to record only what they need for coaching.
Player and parent logins
- A coach can invite a parent or player, or create logins for a whole team with a starting password that must be changed on first sign-in.
- Players under 13 may not hold their own login. The parent or guardian holds it on their behalf.
- A login shows only the player it is linked to, and only the sections the club has chosen to share. Player and parent logins have no access to AI Features or to other players.
- A club can unlink or remove a login at any time, and a parent can ask the club or us to remove one.
No advertising, no profiling
We show no advertising, sell no personal information, and build no profiles of minors. AI Features use a player’s club information only to help that player’s own coach, and player and parent logins cannot use AI Features at all. We do not use children’s information to train AI models.
Parents’ and guardians’ rights
A parent or guardian can review the information recorded about their child, ask for corrections, refuse further collection, and ask for deletion at any time, either through the club or directly with us. When a request comes to us we verify that the requester is the child’s parent or guardian, tell the club, and act within 30 days. Deleting a player removes the player’s data from the club and from any linked login; backups are purged on their normal cycle.
Schools and education records
If a school uses Plaibook for a school team, the school remains responsible for its obligations under FERPA or equivalent laws. Plaibook acts as a school official with a legitimate educational interest only to the extent the school directs, uses education records only to provide the Service, and does not disclose them except as the school instructs or the law requires.
